Reading Week Flyer

Reading Week at Wyman is taking place March 4th through March 8th. The theme for reading week is Read Across America. On Monday, students may wear hats to school. Tuesday is twin day in honor of Dr. Seuss's Thing 1 and Thing 2 from the Cat in the Hat. Wednesday is mismatch day. Thursday students will be allowed to get cozy with a book by wearing their pajamas to school. Friday students will dress as their favorite book character. Students have been having fun trying to guess  daily Mystery Readers. A Pawtuxet Gaspee Day Ranger read to two classes on Monday. Other guest readers are reading to a variety of classrooms throughout the week.

E.T. Wyman is trying to encourage a love of reading. According to the  U.S. Department of Health and Human Services reading "helps build language and thinking skills.".  The Child Mind Institute adds, "Books also help children build empathy and learn how to handle challenging feelings." We all know that reading is beneficial and can help our students to succeed in school and beyond.
